Joseph Mattox, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician, who specializes in non-surgical sports medicine. He joined SportONE in 2016, after 15 years in family practice medicine.
Dr. Mattox grew up in Angola, where he played basketball and football in high school. Dr. Mattox wanted to be a doctor at a very young age, like his father. His dad was a family medicine physician in the LaGrange and Angola areas. Even though his calling was in medicine, he got his undergraduate degree from Indiana University in business. After a few years working in business, he realized he wasn’t doing what he was meant to do. He then went back to school to study medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine.
Dr. Mattox did his internship and residency in Family Medicine in Fort Wayne and he spent 15 years practicing family medicine. He always has had a love for sports, so when he had the opportunity to join Parkview Sports Medicine/SportONE to receive specialty training and deliver care in sports medicine, he couldn’t pass up the chance to specialize in an area that he is passionate about.
Dr. Mattox enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, playing golf, playing and attending sports, and spending time with his extended family in his childhood home on Lake James.
