Brett F. Gemlick, MD, specializes in sports medicine and complex rotator cuff and shoulder reconstruction at SportONE, a division of Orthopaedics Northeast.
Dr. Gemlick first became interested in orthopaedic medicine as a freshman in high school, when he went to work with his neighbor, an orthopaedic surgeon for Orthopaedics Northeast.
Dr. Gemlick graduated from Snider High School and earned his bachelors degree from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. He graduated first in his class at Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio.
In addition to an internship in general surgery, Dr. Gemlick completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery, both at Indiana University Medical Center. Dr. Gemlick returned to Fort Wayne in 2000 for a fellowship in sports medicine at SportONE.
He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa Scholastic Honorary Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Indiana State Medical Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Fort Wayne Orthopaedic Society and American College of Sports Medicine. Dr. Gemlick also won the Academic Excellence Award for Ideal Characteristics of a Physician. In addition he is specially certified in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine.
Dr. Gemlick and his wife enjoy running together and spending time with their three children.
