Meet Dr. Greenberg

Marc Greenberg, MD, is a fellowship-trained minimally invasive orthopedic spine surgeon with SpineONE, a division of Ortho NorthEast, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He provides comprehensive care for conditions of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, ranging from herniated discs, sciatica, and spinal stenosis to cervical myelopathy, adult spinal deformity, and complex revision problems.
 

Dr. Greenberg’s approach begins with listening: understanding how symptoms affect each patient’s life, explaining what the imaging does and does not show, and building a treatment plan around the patient’s anatomy, health, and individual goals. Many spine conditions do not require surgery. When an operation is appropriate, he seeks the least disruptive approach that can safely and durably address the problem, including minimally invasive and endoscopic techniques when appropriate.
 

Dr. Greenberg earned a Bachelor of Science in religious studies from Occidental College in Los Angeles, graduating magna cum laude, earning election to Phi Beta Kappa, and completing the major with distinction. He earned his medical degree at Mayo Clinic School of Medicine and published extensively in orthopedic literature with world-renowned orthopedic surgeons.
 

He then completed a five-year orthopedic surgery residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, with broad training in musculoskeletal diagnosis, trauma, reconstruction, perioperative care, and surgical decision-making. During residency, the Johns Hopkins House Staff Council recognized him as Resident of the Month based on positive patient feedback. He was also elected as a chief resident in his last year at Johns Hopkins. 
 

Dr. Greenberg completed spine surgery fellowship training at Brown University, where his advanced training included complex spine reconstruction, adult spinal deformity, minimally invasive and endoscopic spine surgery, motion-preserving procedures, robotic- and navigation-assisted surgery, and revision spine care. He trained alongside world-renowned spine surgeons actively involved in peer-reviewed research and major national and international spine meetings.
 

At Johns Hopkins and Brown, Dr. Greenberg conducted research on minimally invasive spine surgery, adult spinal deformity, cervical motion-preserving surgery, patient-reported outcomes, revision risk, and healthcare economics. His work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals including Spine, The Spine Journal, Global Spine Journal, Spine Deformity, along with numerous other major journals. He has also co-authored textbook chapters on the cervical spine and on MRI interpretation for spine physicians.

Dr. Greenberg believes that every patient who sees him leaves with the same thing: a plan personalized for them. He does not believe that there is a one-size approach that works for every patient. Instead, each patient deserves something unique and tailored to their specific problem.
 

Outside medicine, Dr. Greenberg is married to his beautiful wife Maayan, and they both enjoy going to the beach with their golden retriever puppy, whose name is Lady. He also enjoys soccer, having played at the collegiate level in Los Angeles as a goalkeeper. He also enjoys horseback riding, having grown up in Virginia riding horses.
